Request for Commercial Sponsorship Proposals in connection with Malta’s Presidency of the EU 2017

The Parliamentary Secretary for EU Presidency 2017 and EU Funds, within the Ministry for European Affairs and Implementation of the Electoral Manifesto, invites proposals for sponsorship from commercial entities in relation to Malta's forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2017.

Background

During the first semester of 2017 Malta will be presiding over the Council of the EU for the first time in its history. It is a great opportunity and honour, and at the same time a huge responsibility and challenge, for Malta and its citizens. During that time Malta will play a prominent role in a wide area of policy development in Brussels, Strasbourg, Luxembourg, as well as in events to be hosted in Malta.

Presidency means a thorough preparation of the working programme as well as ensuring careful organisation of each of the events taking place. During the Presidency, Malta will be also be given a lot of exposure through the Public Diplomacy and Culture Programmes organised locally and abroad.

Malta’s overall goal is to carry out a well-managed and efficient Presidency that advances the EU agenda. Through the Presidency, Government wishes to demonstrate that Malta is a strong supporter of the European project and an active Member State that contributes to advancing issues that benefit all citizens of the EU. The Presidency will provide the opportunity to enhance our relationship with other Member States and EU institutions as well as proving that Malta is a trustworthy, capable, and credible partner.

From January to June 2017, Malta will chair and host a wide range of high level and prestigious meetings. European Commissioners, EU Council Members, Ministers,  senior Government officials and delegates from each of EU Member States, together with influential members of the press corps, will participate in the Presidency programme.

The Government is very conscious that the Presidency offers an opportunity to portray key messages about our economy, our society, our approach to challenges and our political vision. It also provides an opportunity for cultural promotion and to that end a cultural programme is being developed for the Presidency which will also give the opportunity to showcase the unique and multi-faceted aspects of our contemporary culture and heritage.

Sponsorship O
pportunities

The Government believes that the Presidency offers a unique and invaluable opportunity to showcase and promote Malta and to that end the Parliamentary Secretariat for EU Presidency 2017 and EU Funds, invites sponsorship proposals.

For the Presidency to be successful Maltese companies and entities are welcome to donate and contribute goods, services or financial resources. Areas in which the EU Presidency Unit welcomes contributions include:

          Logistics services;
          Catering and hospitality;
          Textile products; and

Other areas may be identified in due course.

In return for their support, sponsors can benefit greatly from positive association with high profile and prestigious events, and gain invaluable exposure and enhanced brand-recognition for their products/services. During the Presidency, Malta will host around 170 meetings and events which will be attended by circa 11,000 delegates from all EU Member States, whilst another 15,000 delegates will attend meeting in Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg.
