Hon. Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi

Member of the Maltese Parliament

Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, husband and father of two children and lawyer by profession having graduated from the University of Malta back in 1999, has been practising commercial and civil law since the year 2000.  He has been involved directly within the Labour Party since 1996 both at a local level and in the Party’s Media Department. In 2003, at only 30 years of age, Zrinzo Azzopardi was elected as president of the Labour Party, and during his tenure he was heavily involved in various Party structural reforms including the introduction of a new statute in 2008.

In May 2013, Zrinzo Azzopardi was appointed as Chairman of the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation, a position he held until January 2020. Under his watch, the Corporation was responsible for the completion of several projects designed by Architect Renzo Piano, namely the new Parliament Building, the Capital City of Valletta’s entrance, and later Castille Square. The same Corporation oversaw an EU funded regeneration project in lower Valletta.

In June 2017, Zrinzo Azzopardi was elected as a Member of Parliament on the 5th Electoral District. He has since served as Chairman on the Adjunct Consideration of Bills Committee and a substitute Member on the Foreign and European Affairs Committee. He also forms part of the delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.

On the 15th of January 2020, Zrinzo Azzopardi was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary responsible for European Funds, a Secretariat which now forms part of the Office of the Prime Minister.
