Hon. Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi
Member of the Maltese Parliament
Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, husband and father of two children
and lawyer by profession having graduated from the University of Malta back in
1999, has been practising commercial and civil law since the year 2000.
He has been involved directly within the Labour Party since 1996 both at a
local level and in the Party’s Media Department. In 2003, at only 30 years of
age, Zrinzo Azzopardi was elected as president of the Labour Party, and during
his tenure he was heavily involved in various Party structural reforms
including the introduction of a new statute in 2008.
In May 2013, Zrinzo Azzopardi was appointed as Chairman of
the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation, a position he held until January
2020. Under his watch, the Corporation was responsible for the completion of
several projects designed by Architect Renzo Piano, namely the new Parliament
Building, the Capital City of Valletta’s entrance, and later Castille Square.
The same Corporation oversaw an EU funded regeneration project in lower
Valletta.
In June 2017, Zrinzo Azzopardi was elected as a Member of
Parliament on the 5th Electoral District. He has since served as Chairman on
the Adjunct Consideration of Bills Committee and a substitute Member on the
Foreign and European Affairs Committee. He also forms part of the delegation to
the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.
On the 15th of January 2020, Zrinzo Azzopardi was appointed
as the Parliamentary Secretary responsible for European Funds, a Secretariat
which now forms part of the Office of the Prime Minister.
