PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARIAT FOR SOCIAL DIALOGUE

 

The Parliamentary Secretariat for Social Dialogue is responsible for promoting and strengthening Social Dialogue in the country. It works to facilitate communication and cooperation between employers, workers, and the government, with the aim of creating a more inclusive and harmonious society. The Secretariat also oversees the implementation of policies and initiatives related to employment and industrial relations.Parliamentary Secretary Dr. Andy Ellul was born on 25 March 1975.

 

He was co-opted to Parliament for the first time in January of 2022. Following his successful election to Parliament in March of 2022, Dr Ellul was appointed to serve as Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue. Dr Ellul was appointed by the Government Parliamentary Group to serve as its Whip from 30th March 2022 until 11th January 2024.

 

Prior to his appointment to the Cabinet of Ministers, Hon Ellul was a practising lawyer specialising in administrative law. Dr Ellul has also served as legal and policy consultant to Government, where he was involved in several legislative reforms most notably in relation to social and administrative matters. He was also Head of the Maltese delegation to the Council of Europe’s Lanzarote Committee.

 

Together with his partner Claudia, they have a nine-year-old son, Gianni.
